IFDA/EF March 1-31 is the time scholarship applications are accepted. In April and May they will be judged, tallied and notifications made in June. IFDA/EF has seven scholarships: new this year is Window Fashion Certified Professionals Fast Track Scholarship, One Full Registration – $1,000, great feature to add to ones resume. Also available is the Tricia LeVangie Green/Sustainable Design Scholarship – $1,500 (This one is supported by our own New England Chapter) IFDA Leaders Commemorative Scholarship -$1,500; Part-Time Student Scholarship- $1,500; IFDA Student Member Scholarship – $2,000; Vercille Voss IFDA Graduate Student Scholarship – $2,000; Ruth Clark Furniture Design Scholarship – $3,000. Every Chapter can apply for one of the four available Chapter Partnership Grants and one of the two available Claire Coleman Founders Grants at $1,000 each as well as The Barbara Brock Memorial Grant earmarked for speaker travel expenses. There are individual grants available to professionals such as:
$2,000-Irma Dobkin Universal Design Grant; $1,500-Ina Mae Kaplan Historic Preservation Grant – this Grant has helped in restoration of many historic sites. For educators: Elizabeth Brown Grant to Interior Design Programs – $1,000. Two Grants available to help professional members in advancing their education or gather inspiration are the Tony Torrice Professional Development Grant — $1,500 and Valerie Moran Memorial Grant — up to $3,000. Throughout the year the Foundation continues to review each Grant and Scholarship to see if they need attention. At this time EF is looking into the possibility of another design contest as well as researching programs to offer with the Schoenthal Leadership Grant.
